The Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller is an onsite role that supports multi-entity financial operations for Tran Capital Management, including Rhino Hospitality Group and White Birch Property Management. The position encompasses financial reporting, general ledger oversight, month-end close, compliance, payroll and tax support, with opportunities to advance into a Controller-level role.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across all entities
- Manage or co-manage the month-end and year-end close processes
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review journal entries for accuracy
- Provide variance analyses and executive reporting packages for leadership
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger across multiple entities
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions ensuring timely processing
- Review and approve bank reconciliations
- Support fixed asset tracking, depreciation schedules, and capital project accounting
- Assure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Assist with external and internal audit preparation and documentation
- Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for accounting procedures and policies
- Assist with payroll review, reconciliation, and reporting
- Support sales tax, property tax, and other applicable tax filings
- Coordinate with external CPAs or tax advisors as directed by the Controller
- Supervise or mentor accounting staff such as AP clerks and bookkeepers as needed
- Collaborate with operations, property management, and restaurant teams
- Support accounting systems implementation and process automation initiatives
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by the Controller or executive team
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent with an Associate's degree
- CPA license or active CPA candidacy preferred
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience required
- Multi-entity or multi-industry experience preferred
- Hospitality, real estate, or property management experience is a significant plus
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Restaurant365, AppFolio, or equivalent
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools preferred
- Familiarity with payroll platforms such as ADP, Rippling, or similar
- High attention to detail with strong organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional discretion with sensitive financial information
