Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Staff Accountant position based in the Greater Philadelphia area. The role reports to the Controller and supports month-end close activities across multiple entities. Key tasks include posting prepaid expenses, depreciation, payroll journal entries, and accruals. Additional duties include daily cash reconciliations, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset maintenance, intercompany account reconciliations, and preparing sales tax, use tax, and occupancy tax returns. The Staff Accountant will assist the Controller with monthly financial statement preparation, annual audits and reviews, and provide variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and prior year results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end close activities for multiple entities, including posting prepaid expenses, depreciation, payroll entries, and accruals.
- Post payroll journal entries.
- Perform daily cash reconciliations and cash reporting.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain the fixed asset subledger and update depreciation calculations each month.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses as requested by the Controller or CFO.
- Prepare and file sales tax, use tax, and occupancy tax returns monthly.
- Assist the Controller with the preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Support the annual financial audits and reviews performed by the external CPA firm.
- Provide variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and prior year, as requested.
- Collaborate with accounts payable and accounts receivable teams on month-end close processes.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts on a monthly basis.
Qualifications and Skills
- A four-year college degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5 to 7 plus years of accounting experience.
- Moderate Excel skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Capable of thriving in a fast paced environment.
- Works well under pressure and is a self-starter who can operate independently.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Team player who collaborates effectively with others.
