Job Description
Position Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst contributes to strengthening the company’s financial health by performing thorough financial analyses, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and delivering strategic insights that guide decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- In-Depth Financial Analysis: Apply advanced analytical methods to assess financial data including revenue, expenses, and profitability metrics; identify trends and variances; conduct scenario analyses to evaluate the financial impact of strategic choices such as new product launches, market expansion, and cost optimization initiatives; prepare detailed reports with KPIs and actionable recommendations for senior management.
- Support for Budgeting Processes: Work with department heads and cross-functional teams to collect input for the annual budget; ensure financial objectives align with the strategic plan; analyze historical performance and market dynamics to set realistic budget assumptions; lead budget meetings and present insights to encourage cross-departmental collaboration and accountability.
- Forecasting and Financial Projections: Lead quarterly and annual forecasts, incorporating inputs from multiple departments to generate projections based on historical trends and future expectations; monitor market indicators and economic conditions, adjust forecasts as needed; prepare variance analysis to explain gaps between actuals and budget, highlighting trends and performance.
- Strategic Insights and Decision Support: Advise senior management and operational leaders with insights to inform strategic decisions and long-term planning; develop financial models to evaluate potential strategic initiatives, supporting capital allocation and investment decisions; collaborate with business units to create metrics and dashboards tracking progress against goals; foster accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ad-hoc Analysis and Reporting: Perform ad-hoc analyses and special projects as requested by leadership; deliver timely data to support strategic initiatives; distill complex financial information into clear presentations for executive reviews, ensuring stakeholders understand key insights and implications.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and reporting tools; leverage technology to streamline analysis and improve accuracy; stay informed on best practices in financial analysis and reporting, bringing new ideas to the team.
Skills and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field; MBA or relevant certification (CFA, CPA) preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis or related fields
- Proficient in financial modeling and advanced Excel techniques; experience with financial software such as SAP or Oracle
- Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making capabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present complex information clearly
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
