Job Description

Overview

This position reports to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis and collaborates closely to guide the organization through a transition to a product sales-based model across the enterprise. Location: Tysons, VA 22102.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a product lifecycle management system to monitor a portfolio of products from initial investment through pricing and sales, to downstream enhancements and ongoing maintenance after market release.
  • Provide ongoing financial stewardship and advisory support to the Chief Technology Organization.
  • Collaborate with project control and indirect budgeting leads to develop and maintain the operational budget for the overall product portfolio and pilot program implementations.
  • Track product development schedules and milestones, and assess progress against established budgets.
  • Establish a tracking framework to cohesively map product and offerings revenue throughout the lifecycle from sales opportunities to recognized revenue.
  • Respond to ad hoc inquiries and provide guidance to the CTO on key development milestones, budget variances, and actual versus projected sales revenue across the product portfolio.
  • Build and maintain sophisticated models to evaluate development costs, pricing strategies, acquisition strategies, and operating models.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly Board-level reporting that communicates the financial health of investments and the actual and anticipated returns.
  • Develop process automation with Adaptive and Workday forecasting tools to ensure data integrity across the organization for internal development costs, capitalized and amortized costs, and revenue streams related to return on investments.
  • Provide financial consultation to development, technology and marketing teams to interpret spend versus performance and build business cases for expansions in new product offerings and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 8 to 10 years of FP&A experience with a focus on product development and software lifecycles.
  • Familiarity with product development investment models related to future annual revenue streams.
  • Knowledge of Costpoint with the ability to provide insight and in-depth analysis of deployed reports.
  • Prior use and understanding of forecasting systems, with Adaptive preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to work with large data sets and consolidate them into informational reports for corporate leadership.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with the ability to explain findings to director/VP/SVP level resources.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, finance or accounting; MBA preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure consistency in operations, reporting and outcomes.
