The AVP / VP, Relationship Manager - Corporate Banking (Japanese bilingual) at Mizuho Americas focuses on developing and managing relationships with corporate clients, emphasizing origination and portfolio risk. Responsibilities
- Develops and executes a tailored business development plan and client calling schedule aligned with the bank's strategy. Identifies opportunities, seeks referrals, conducts market research, and prepares for calls by understanding the client company, its industry, and needs while setting objectives for each relationship.
- Maintains regular contact with existing clients and meets with their financial officers. Discusses and promotes the full range of corporate banking products and services, explores financing opportunities and business conditions, and assists in forecasting clients' finances to craft solutions. Engages product specialists as needed to support problem solving or transaction structuring.
- Negotiates transactions, prices products to target returns, documents and closes deals in line with Bank policies and regulatory requirements. Applies sound credit and risk judgment when presenting transactions for approval and delivers recommendations to senior management.
- Collaborates with other Bank units to define responsibilities and align objectives across product areas for a relationship or transaction. Resolves client needs and coordinates with other departments to address concerns.
- Monitors relationship plan results and account activity to determine client profitability. Builds relationships with industry contacts and strategic partners, identifies accounts for development or removal, and prepares management reports.
- Ensures timely monitoring of the assigned portfolio for quality and risk, detects changes in credit quality early, analyzes problem credits, and develops solutions with clients to minimize loss exposure. Conducts ongoing credit reviews and communicates changes to maintain accurate risk grading, proposing action plans for adversely graded relationships.
- Maintains awareness of competitive products, pricing, and market changes within the area.
- Prepares credit recommendations, coordinates amendments and renewals, and performs periodic credit rating reviews. Ensures documentation integrity and regulatory compliance.
- May serve as a product specialist, acting as a technical consultant to clients and Relationship Managers across various segments and locations. May develop and deliver client and staff training, and provide guidance to junior Relationship Managers and Credit Analysts.
- Participates in civic and community affairs as appropriate and maintains current knowledge of banking laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure full compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics
- Working experience in the banking industry is a plus
