Role overview

ALSTOM designs and delivers transport networks—from high-speed trains and metros to trams, turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signaling, and digital mobility. With a global footprint of 80,000 colleagues, we are driving greener and smarter mobility, connecting cities while reducing carbon emissions. This is a full-time, hybrid Finance Project Manager role based in Pittsburgh, PA.

In this position, you’ll apply your financial expertise to a cutting-edge field, collaborating with dedicated, cross-functional teams. You’ll shape the financial strategy and performance of key projects, ensure compliance with corporate guidelines and local regulations, and optimize project outcomes. On a daily basis, you’ll partner with teams across the business (Project Management, Contract Management, and Regional Finance), deliver financial analysis and guidance, and contribute to negotiations to support project success.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct the financials of projects to boost overall performance
  • Ensure project accounting aligns with company guidelines
  • Collaborate in the overall project management process alongside Project Managers
  • Work with the Project Manager to ensure financial strategy success
  • Provide financial analysis, advice, and guidance to support project decisions
  • Analyze execution performance and propose action plans to improve contract margins and cash flow
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, including tax and statutory accounts
  • Coach the Finance Project Manager community to implement agility, simplification, and efficiency
  • Articulate project performance and financial insights at the executive level

  • Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Engineering, Project Management, or related field
  • Experience in financial management for large, complex projects
  • Experience managing complex finance projects within industrial sectors such as construction, civil engineering, rail, or similar industries (desirable)
  • Knowledge of MS Excel and ERP systems
  • Familiarity with financial analysis, risk management, and project performance optimization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong organizational abilities and prioritization skills
  • Leadership capability with the ability to influence others effectively
  • Strategic thinking and an analytical mindset
  • Integrity, resilience, and a proactive attitude
  • Ability to articulate key project messages at an executive level
