The Opportunity
EY Parthenon, within EY's Corporate Finance practice, combines strategy, transactions and valuation to deliver practical value across engagements. In this role, you will contribute to projects that address commercial issues, collaborate with management on elements of the acquisition process, and regularly perform valuations for strategic priorities with a focus on intangible assets. EY has an established Valuation, Modeling and Economics Practice that guides clients on planning, regulatory compliance, financial reporting, tax and fair market value documentation. You will have opportunities to grow through a broad range of engagements, mentorship and formal learning as you develop leadership capabilities and help build a better working world for colleagues, clients and communities.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Address commercial valuation matters and support management in parts of the acquisition process
- Regularly perform valuations for strategic priorities with a focus on intangible assets
- Provide insights and may contribute to fairness opinions on transactions and restructurings
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Commercial: regularly advise on valuation issues related to acquisitions or divestitures and provide fairness opinions on transactions and restructurings
- Regulatory and Accounting: collaborate with management during acquisitions to understand how the value of acquired intangible and financial assets will impact accounting requirements
- Taxation: regularly undertake valuations for US tax purposes and advise clients on US tax valuation issues
- Intangible Assets: specialize in valuing intangible assets such as trademarks, brand names, core deposit intangibles, customer relationships, banking licenses, patents, tech and know-how
To Qualify for the Role You Must Have
- A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting or business and at least 2 years of related business valuation work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 18 months of related work experience
- Previous business valuation experience
- Financial modeling skills including experience building models from scratch
- Demonstrated record of solving complex problems and completing challenging projects
- Residency or commutable distance to the office location for this position
- Willingness and ability to travel and work beyond standard hours when necessary; travel may be required beyond the work location based on client and project needs
Ideally You Will Have
- Previous valuation experience in professional services or a Big Four firm
- Financial modeling experience
- Achievement of or significant progress toward a CFA
- ASA or AM designations are a plus with the expectation of one completed designation within a given timeframe
- Knowledge of leveraging firm-approved AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $95,200 to $157,100. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $114,200 to $178,500. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined based on factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. Our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
We operate in a team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. For most external client-facing roles, in-person collaboration is expected about 40 to 60 percent of the time over the course of engagements, projects or a year. Our flexible vacation policy lets you decide the amount of time off based on personal circumstances, with EY paid holidays, winter and summer breaks, personal and family care, and other leaves of absence to support well-being.
