Role Summary
The Director of Finance will manage financial systems, controls, and reporting to support the organization’s mission. This role ensures financial clarity, accuracy, and integrity across multiple entities and platforms, while developing durable, scalable processes to accommodate growth. Responsibilities
- Establish strong controls for separation of duties, financial accuracy, and policy adherence.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS requirements, and industry best practices.
- Supervise two direct reports, providing guidance, training, and accountability.
- Translate complex financial data into clear information for non-finance colleagues.
- Develop intuitive reports and dashboards to monitor key financial metrics.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Streamline, automate, and redesign processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Improve the clarity and user experience of spreadsheets, dashboards, and tools.
- Create and maintain up-to-date documentation for all financial workflows.
- Develop protocols to prevent operational discontinuity.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of financial management experience, with preference for nonprofit or church contexts.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field; CPA preferred and highly regarded.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Engaging and cooperative leadership style.
- Proficiency in GAAP, internal controls, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel.
- Active Christian faith and membership in a local church.
- Agreement with Greenhouse Covenant for faith and conduct.
- Participation in the organization's shared spiritual life, including prayer and worship.
- Microsoft Excel experience of at least 3 years and QuickBooks experience of at least 3 years.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
