What You Will Do

  • Establish advisory relationships by directly engaging with clients to gather information on financial circumstances and goals.
  • Assess overall personal financial conditions including complex retirement plans, estate plans, investments, taxes, insurance, cash flow, cash management, and budgeting.
  • Identify client objectives, risk tolerance, and capital needs.
  • Provide guidance on general financial forecasts and trends.
  • Develop sophisticated goals-based wealth plans aligned with client objectives and consult with clients and other specialists on action steps.
  • Coordinate implementation of advanced wealth plans according to client directions.
  • Collaborate with clients’ other advisors and TrustBank partners to deliver coordinated financial and wealth planning services.
  • Review account relationships and communicate with the wealth management team to uncover cross-selling opportunities.
  • Lead the sales process in assigned markets and identify opportunities to expand client relationships.
  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of best practices in financial planning delivery.
  • Prepare and present materials related to ongoing client relationship maintenance.
  • Develop marketing materials and plans and deliver marketing presentations.
  • Contribute to TrustBank wealth planning thought leadership and related marketing resources.
  • Actively engage with professional advisor networks, including attendance at conferences and networks, to cultivate relationships.
  • Operate independently with in-depth knowledge of the business unit and its functions.
  • Balance high level execution with strategic development and direction of the function.
  • Perform preliminary analyses as required.
  • Interact directly with committees and management as part of duties.
  • Strategically develop, implement, and manage programs within the functional area.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the manager.

Working Conditions

The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule, typically 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, totaling 40 hours per week. Additional hours may be necessary. Primary work location is within the DuPage County / Chicago Market. Expect prolonged computer use, a moderate noise level, and a well-lit office. Duties may require standing, walking, using hands and fingers, reaching, speaking, and hearing. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include near, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus. Some tasks may be repetitive at a computer and may involve direct public interaction.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position ranges from $121,900 to $262,000, including incentives. This span reflects the compensation range across our markets. Actual pay will depend on role responsibilities, relevant skills, experience, education, and geographic location. We use a holistic approach in hiring to ensure internal equity while recognizing unique qualifications. In addition to base salary, this role participates in an incentive compensation plan tied to individual performance. Education and Experience

Successful candidates typically possess knowledge of sophisticated income tax planning, retirement planning, estate planning, investment and asset allocation planning, risk management planning, and cash flow planning, usually gained through substantial related work experience. A university or college degree in finance, economics, or a related field is required. The candidate should be an effective communicator and collaborative professional.

  • Proven ability to service and develop client relationships by effectively engaging clients and identifying their needs.
  • Exceptional communication skills, strong attention to detail, proactive approach, analytical mindset, empathy, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Travel across regional locations is required.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational capabilities to address requests, prioritize tasks, and manage workflow.
  • Solid understanding of general financial principles to serve and communicate with high net worth clients.
  • Maintain knowledge of financial software and applications and how technology supports high standards of service at TrustBank.

Technical Skills

Proficiency with Salesforce, eMoney, MS Office Suite, Excel for data analysis, planning software, and report preparation.
