In this Senior Accountant position with Vaco by Highspring, you’ll work in a hybrid setup in Costa Mesa, CA, supporting day-to-day accounting operations and the month-end close across multiple accounts. This six-month contract requires solid GAAP knowledge, precise reconciliations, and the ability to coordinate across teams to produce accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Draft and review journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and assemble supporting schedules
- Own the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close cycles
- Analyze general ledger activity and investigate variances
- Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts
- Support the preparation of financial statements and provide audit documentation
- Assist with cash management activities and related reporting
- Review and authorize invoices, ensuring correct coding
- Maintain documentation to support internal controls
- Assist on special projects as required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3 to 6+ years of accounting experience
- Solid understanding of GAAP
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail with effective communication skills
- CPA qualification or public accounting experience is a plus
