Job Description

The Franconia Ski Club (FSC) is a US Ski & Snowboard Gold-certified alpine ski program and the 2020 Development Club of the Year. Founded in 1933, FSC operates at Cannon Mountain in Franconia, New Hampshire, with a mission to share the joys of skiing and the lifelong lessons of healthy competition with its broad and open membership. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, FSC supports training across NHARA, US Ski & Snowboard, and FIS racing and offers scholarships and financial aid to eligible families. The club currently serves 193 junior athletes aged 6 to 19, plus 46 athletes through a partnership with Holderness School. It provides weekend training, a Winter Term for U12, U14 and U16 teams, a full-time option for FIS-level competition, and weekly Masters sessions.

FSC is seeking a full or part-time Business & Finance Manager to join a small in-house team of three, working closely with the FSC Treasurer and the Board of Directors. While the role is primarily in person, there is potential for remote work during the summer months in coordination with the Program Director and Treasurer. Key Responsibilities

  • Financial
    • Enter and pay vendor bills using QuickBooks
    • Prepare invoices and sales receipts for customers
    • Process bank deposits
    • Record and track donations
    • Reconcile electronic payments and receipts
    • Generate financial reports for the Board of Directors, including the annual budget
  • Human Resources
    • Track and record coach and employee time (salary, hourly, per diem)
    • Manage payroll with the club’s payroll processor
    • Issue reimbursements to coaches for expenses (mileage, licenses, education)
    • Maintain employee files and documentation
    • File incident reports and prepare workers’ compensation claims
  • Insurance
    • Collaborate with agents to obtain quotes and place coverage
  • Liability
    • Manage liability coverage for coaches, employees, and buildings
  • Directors & Officers
    • Coordinate related governance and coverage needs as applicable
  • Workers Compensation
    • Oversee workers’ compensation processes and documentation
  • Equipment Management
    • Handle matters related to marine and land equipment
  • Facilities Maintenance
    • Hire cleaning companies for building, windows, and carpets
    • Schedule inspections for elevator, AED unit, and fire suppression systems
    • Schedule annual inspections for smoke detectors and fire alarm devices
    • Coordinate trash and recyclables disposal services

Qualifications

  • Education
    • BA/BS degree in accounting or finance
    • Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, and payroll platforms
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related role in for-profit, educational, or nonprofit environments
    • Familiarity with ski racing and the business of skiing is a plus
  • Specialized Skills
    • Demonstrate high standards of business integrity and ethics
    • Ability to manage confidential financial information with discretion

Location and Schedule

Location: Franconia, New Hampshire (in-person)

Full-time and part-time options are available, with a minimum commitment of approximately 25 hours per week across the calendar year.

Compensation

Salary range: $20,000.00 to $50,000.00 per year

Experience requirement: Finance – 5 years (Required)
