Job Description
Job Summary
Lead the finance function for a construction company with 14 years in operation. The role encompasses financial management, planning, and strategic direction to support long term viability and success. There are ancillary duties related to partner architecture and real estate firms.
Primary Responsibilities
- With the Owners and/or General Manager, drive process improvements that strengthen expense management to optimize profit and cash flow.
- Oversee annual analysis of professional billable rates and develop operational budgets.
- Perform regular financial reviews, including monthly operating statements, cash flow reports, monthly forecasts, and balance sheets.
- Gather, organize, and analyze financial data as required; translate findings into clear, presentable reports and distinguish valid data from unreliable comparisons.
- Ensure financial information is accurately developed, analyzed, and reported to management.
- Ensure forecasts and project budgets are prepared in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support the month end and year end close processes.
- Coordinate monthly invoicing with Owners and/or General Manager; prepare invoices as needed.
- Maintain compliance through annual reports and business licenses, personal property taxes, and other filings; liaise with the CPA.
- In collaboration with the Owners and/or General Manager, maintain insurance coverage related to the business and projects with the local broker.
- Uphold strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements.
- Develop the annual budget and monitor it on a monthly basis.
- Generate monthly transaction reports and balance project expenditures.
- Coordinate with the staff bookkeeper.
- Administer and manage the 401(k) plan.
Construction Project Administration Duties
- Administer bidding and estimating activities, partnering with the General Manager to establish project budgets.
- Support financial scheduling and budget management, including Change Orders, Daily Logs, ProCore Owner Portal, and RFIs.
- Enter receipts in ProCore and/or QuickBooks.
- Serve as the primary contact for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- Conduct postmortems and reconciliations to assess project outcomes.
Ancillary Business Duties
- Assist with monthly invoicing for the partner architecture company.
- Assist with annual tax and insurance coordination for the partner architecture company.
- Assist with annual tax and insurance coordination for the partner real estate company.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- Seven years of experience in a business or finance environment; construction experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of accountancy with superb analytical skills; critical thinker with a proven track record of problem solving.
- Honest, reliable, with integrity and a commitment to professional ethics.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced presentation skills and ability to synthesize and convey complex financial concepts to non-finance professionals.
- High attention to detail.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay: $45.00 - $65.00 per hour.
