Overview
The role is responsible for identifying and reducing losses within the mortgage servicing rights (MSR) portfolio through robust subservicing oversight. The focus is on improving performance, enhancing operational effectiveness, and mitigating losses, with emphasis on property preservation and casualty insurance. The position leverages industry knowledge and relationships to shape the overall MSR portfolio strategy. A strategic thinker with a proven background in operational oversight, process optimization, strong insurance acumen, and the ability to cultivate compliant, effective relationships with subservicers and industry leaders is required.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary of $150,000 plus an annual bonus. Our benefits package includes medical coverage starting on day one and a company matched 401(k). Compensation may vary based on experience, location, and other job-related factors.
Location and Work Arrangement
Hybrid remote in Horsham, PA 19044. While remote work is eligible, preference will be given to candidates who can maintain a hybrid schedule (three days per week in the office) at either the Coral Gables, FL or Horsham, PA locations. Local candidates within commuting distance will be prioritized.
Responsibilities
- Manage subservicers foreclosure and bankruptcy processes and oversee files related to default-related law, including title issues, probate matters, condominium/HOA matters, contested foreclosures, and bankruptcies.
- Provide governance and surveillance support over the subservicer’s foreclosure and bankruptcy attorney network, ensuring proper allocation, case management, and cost considerations where applicable.
- Address performance improvement issues with the subservicer and the attorney firm.
- Develop and implement standardized processes and best practices for insurance policy placement to optimize customer experience, mitigate risk, and ensure compliance with investor and insurer guidelines.
- Assist with creating policies and procedures pertaining to subservicing oversight.
- Conduct thorough assessments, monitoring, and measurement of subservicing activities, focusing on property and casualty insurance matters.
- Establish and maintain rigorous quality control measures to uphold high standards of service and compliance.
- Partner with Analytics, Legal, and Risk Departments to monitor regulatory changes, investor/insurer requirements, and market trends, developing strategies to anticipate and prepare for changes in an evolving landscape.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to assess the impact of climate factors on affordability, cost of ownership, and MSR valuations.
- Train team members and strategic partners on best practices related to foreclosure and bankruptcy matters.
- Assist the Subservicing Oversight Team, ensuring all subservicers and related third parties adhere to Lakeview’s standards and regulatory requirements.
- Engage with investors and insurers to advocate for policies that benefit all stakeholders.
- Undertake special projects as assigned by senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business, Real Estate, Risk Management, or a related field. A law degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in insurance, mortgage, and/or legal fields with a deep understanding of property insurance policies and regulatory frameworks.
- A voracious learner with a proactive mindset and a willingness to learn from experienced leaders within the organization.
- Ability to work independently to identify emerging risks and develop creative solutions.
- High integrity and sound business judgment.
- Strong listening, problem-solving, and negotiating skills, with the ability to drive consensus and foster cross department collaboration.
- Excellent relationship-building skills to engage investors, insurers, and other key stakeholders.
- Ability to travel as needed.
