Job Description

Overview

The VP Relationship Manager within the Private Client Services department is primarily responsible for attracting and developing new personal and commercial deposits, loan and investment relationships for Ocean Bank and its subsidiaries.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow existing relationships by meeting with prospective clients, engaging in business development calls or networking events, and promoting additional accounts or products to support overall business development objectives.
  • Adhere to CIP and BSA/AML requirements and follow bank policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Lead the service delivery model strategy for the assigned market to drive business growth.
  • For new loan opportunities, manage applications by collecting required documentation and financial information, coordinating with department management, underwriting teams, and credit committees to move deals from application to closing.
  • Oversee and review active loan portfolios, ensuring past due loans and technical exceptions stay within Ocean Bank’s policy guidelines, and perform loan annual reviews on a timely basis.
  • Monitor overdrawn and uncollected accounts and manage past due loan payments.
  • For deposit relationships, monitor account activity and manage accounts that are uncollected or in overdraft status.
  • Maintain current customer profile information and documentation, including W-9 and W-8BEN, CIP documents (drivers licenses, passports), core and supporting bank documents, updated financial statements and information, client profile information, and other supporting materials.
  • Perform due diligence on BSA/KYC write-ups and profiles; conduct customer interviews to profile clients and ensure compliance with BSA, KYC and other bank policies; respond to BSA requests.
  • Ensure efficiency across customers’ accounts in all bank products.
  • Continuously identify and analyze new products or initiatives that would enhance client service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance.
  • Five (5) years of banking related experience in product sales and lending.
  • Knowledgeable in bank operations, new accounts, relationship management, payment processing, wire transfers, debits/credits, overdraft/uncollected management, past due loan management, and related activities.
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Advanced understanding and experience with commercial banking or private banking relationships and interaction with high-net-worth clients.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act/AML and related regulations.
  • Experience working in a sales team with high quality service advocacy.
  • Ability to visit prospective clients within a designated market area to achieve sales objectives.
  • Knowledge of how to complete and maintain a comprehensive KYC client profile.
  • In-depth understanding of banking laws and applicable compliance regulations.
  • An established contact or client portfolio is required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, written and verbal communication skills (English and Spanish).
  • Computer proficiency in MS software such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred Experience

  • Associate’s degree with a minimum of seven (7) years banking-related experience in product sales and sales servicing to customers in commercial or international/private banking.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Investment licensing Series 7 preferred.
