Job Purpose & Scope
This position supports lending efforts by conducting analysis, underwriting, origination, monitoring, and servicing of loans across the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) division, handling varying degrees of complexity with meticulous attention to detail. You will underwrite and review credit memorandums, ensure due diligence is complete and aligned with CIB policies and procedures in portfolio management, underwriting, and operations, and oversee the management of credit relationships within the CIB portfolio.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide thorough, accurate, and timely loan servicing in accordance with the Bank’s Loan Policy.
- Monitor portfolio risk to identify potential issues early and communicate findings to borrowers and senior leadership to facilitate prompt risk mitigation.
- Ensure underwriting is comprehensive, precise, and incorporates detailed risk analyses that reflect the Bank’s standards, policies, and credit risk appetite.
- Deliver financial analysis, analytics, and underwriting support to business lines within the CIB.
- Collaborate on underwriting guidelines, create required loan presentation content, and establish standardized approaches while recommending updates as appropriate.
- Manage assigned credit transactions, ensuring efficient handling of loan requests in a timely manner, consistent with Bank standards and service level agreements.
- Maintain communication with lenders, credit officers, and management at all levels regarding approved and declined loans.
- Track, monitor, and report activity on loan applications and decisions, maintaining records of applications received and booked.
- Maintain the independence of the underwriting function and the initial credit risk rating recommendations.
- Regularly exercise discretion and judgment in performing essential duties.
- Review and propose updates to relevant sections of the Loan Policy for senior management consideration.
- Maintain punctuality and dependable attendance in the workplace.
