Senior Statutory Accountant (P&C)

Overview

Taylor White Accounting and Finance is seeking a Senior Statutory Accountant (P&C) to join a growing residential property insurance organization. The role is based in the Tampa Bay Area with a flexible hybrid schedule that combines remote work with quarterly in-person collaboration. The compensation range is $90,000 to $115,000 base, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

What You Will Do

• Support statutory accounting for multiple insurance carriers, including month-end journal entries (gross and net of reinsurance) using NetSuite
• Maintain balance sheet account reconciliations
• Prepare statutory (yellow book) financial reports
• Record accounts payable and ensure all regulatory reporting and payment deadlines are met
• Record STAT to GAAP conversion entries
• Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Prepare billings to reinsurers
• Provide technical guidance to senior leaders
• Perform financial analytics to explain fluctuations and uncover insights
• Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency
• Actively communicate with reinsurers, auditors, and external partners with professionalism and accuracy
• Serve as an active team member, assisting and reviewing the work of staff accountants as needed
• Cross-train team members and support knowledge sharing
• Participate in special projects, including automation and streamlining initiatives within accounting and finance
• Contribute to organizational success through ongoing learning and development

What You Bring

• CPA required
• Ideal background: external audit experience from a Big 4 or regional firm, or a mix of public and private
• Strong statutory and GAAP accounting knowledge
• Enjoy working cross-functionally, improving processes, and contributing to a collaborative team
• Candidates needing a delayed start date due to busy season are welcome to discuss timing
• Experience with NetSuite is a plus
• Strong communication skills
• Process improvement mindset
• Experience with external audits in P&C insurance is preferred

Location and Schedule

Location: Tampa Bay Area. Flexible hybrid arrangement with full remote capability and quarterly in-person team sessions lasting one week per quarter.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary ranges from $90,000 to $115,000, commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits.
