Senior ServiceNow Developer

Verisign is seeking a Senior ServiceNow Platform Engineer to lead end-to-end design, implementation, and governance of a multi-module ServiceNow environment. This hybrid role in Reston, VA blends strategic platform leadership with hands-on delivery across ITSM, ITAM, ITOM, SecOps, GRC, and TPRM, with a compensation range of USD 135,800 to 183,800 per year. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business and IT stakeholders to drive measurable value through optimized ServiceNow solutions.

Platform Strategy

• Oversee the overall design of the ServiceNow platform to align with business goals and industry best practices; partner with executives, stakeholders, and technical teams to craft and deliver innovative ServiceNow solutions; establish scalable roadmaps focused on performance, stability, and audit compliance; guide the design of workflows, integrations, and modules to extend platform capabilities.

ServiceNow Implementation & Optimization

• Lead end-to-end implementation across Core foundation, ITSM, ITAM, ITOM, SecOps, GRC, TPRM, and related modules; manage platform upgrades and ensure applications adhere to enterprise security and compliance standards; provide technical guidance to configure, customize, and develop on the ServiceNow platform based on business needs; maintain documentation of solutions and internal technical artifacts.

Leadership

• Provide process governance and technical best practices; mentor a team of ServiceNow engineers; collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, Security, Engineering, Finance, HR) to drive adoption and platform success; demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and make strong decisions as a leader managing multiple teams.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

• Engage with executive leadership to understand business objectives and deliver solutions with tangible value and measurable outcomes; coordinate with ServiceNow team management to ensure clear communication regarding project status, challenges, and milestones.

Continuous Improvement

• Establish technical governance and best practices to continuously improve platform performance and operational efficiency; stay current with the latest ServiceNow trends, releases, and best practices, proactively applying new technologies to enhance the platform; foster a safe space for engineering team members to experiment with technical solutions that address organizational problems.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience with ServiceNow, including deep expertise in ITSM, ITAM, ITOM, SecOps, GRC, and TPRM modules.
• Strong experience in architecture and design of ServiceNow platforms, including workflows, custom apps, and integrations.
• Proven experience leading technical teams, governance, and delivering large-scale projects.
• Proficiency with scripting languages (JavaScript, Glide) and front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, AngularJS, SASS, Bootstrap) for Service Portal development.
• Solid understanding of CMDB, Asset Management, Discovery, Portal, Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
• Experience integrating ServiceNow with external systems via REST/SOAP APIs, Integration Hub, and Spokes.
• Nice to have Perl and Python programming in Linux environments.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum, and Kanban development methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor technical teams and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting complex concepts to business leaders and stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in IT, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (ITSM, ITAM, or similar), ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), and ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
• ITIL v3/v4 certification is a plus; Certified Technical Architect (CTA) is a big plus.
