Senior Associate Real Estate Acquisitions & Networking focus

The Opportunity

Ballast Point Capital is seeking a proactive Senior Associate to join the investment team. This role blends hands on underwriting with proactive deal sourcing, offering a meaningful departure from a traditional back office analyst position. You will play a key part in expanding our footprint by handling both the quantitative analysis behind opportunities and the relationship network that brings them to our desk. In addition to the core real estate portfolio, you will gain exposure to private credit opportunities and private equity, providing a broad view across the capital stack.

Key Responsibilities

• Deal Sourcing & Networking
  • The Face of the Firm: Represent the Family Office at industry conferences, local real estate events, and social functions to build a robust pipeline of off market opportunities.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain deep relationships with brokers, developers, and lenders.
  • Pipeline Growth: Proactively identify and "hunt" for new acquisition targets that align with our investment mandates.
• Underwriting & Analysis
  • Deal Evaluation: Perform rigorous financial underwriting for new real estate acquisitions and private credit opportunities.
  • Lease-Up Strategy: Support high value lease-up initiatives, analyzing market data to optimize occupancy and maximize NOI.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate credit-worthiness and collateral for private lending deals, bridging the gap between real estate and debt analysis.
• Portfolio Support
  • Create high level investment memos for the Family Office leadership.
  • Monitor market trends to identify shift points in asset classes such as Multifamily and Industrial.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate combines strong networking with disciplined underwriting. You should be comfortable working in a complex Excel model and engaging with industry professionals alike.

• Experience: 2–4 years in Real Estate Investment Banking, Private Equity, or a similar high-volume brokerage environment.
• Technical Savvy: High proficiency in financial modeling (DCF, IRR, NPV) and a deep understanding of real estate fundamentals.
• Executive Presence: Highly professional demeanor with the ability to represent a Family Office with discretion and integrity.
