Senior Accountant

NextStep Recruiting has partnered with an established insurance and financial services organization to recruit a Senior Accountant, Accounting Policy. The position is available in Addison, Texas or Montpelier, Vermont, with a hybrid work arrangement.

The role supports a corporate finance and controllership function focused on technical accounting guidance, policy development, and regulatory compliance. It is well suited to an accounting professional who enjoys technical research, interpreting guidance, and advising on complex transactions.

The Senior Accountant collaborates with finance leadership and business units to ensure accounting policies stay aligned with current standards and regulatory expectations.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and active CPA designation
• 5+ years of experience in technical accounting, accounting policy, or public accounting audit
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles
• Experience researching and applying accounting guidance to complex transactions
• Ability to communicate technical accounting topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred qualifications

• Background in insurance, ideally life, health, or property and casualty environments
• Familiarity with statutory reporting and NAIC related guidance
• Exposure to reinsurance, investments, or insurance product accounting
• Experience using accounting research platforms such as Checkpoint, DART, or CCH
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills

Compensation and location

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
