Overview

Nationwide Legal, LLC is seeking a polished and experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of the company’s monthly accounting close process in a fully in-office role. This position suits an accounting professional who thrives in a deadline-driven environment, takes pride in producing accurate financial information, and excels at owning critical accounting processes. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in preserving the integrity of the company’s financial records and ensuring monthly reporting is accurate, complete, and delivered on time. This role requires the ability to work independently, maintain strong attention to detail, and proactively identify and resolve accounting issues. It offers meaningful responsibility, visibility with leadership, and the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of the company’s accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely completion of all close activities
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to accruals, prepaid expenses, intercompany transactions, and other accounting adjustments
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation
  • Maintain accrual schedules, prepaid schedules, and other supporting accounting schedules
  • Conduct general ledger reviews and variance analyses to identify unusual balances or transactions
  • Prepare and maintain financial close workpapers supporting the accuracy of financial reporting
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and GAAP-compliant reporting
  • Support multi-entity accounting operations, including maintaining separate entity books and assisting with consolidation of financial results where applicable
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and other professional service providers
  • Maintain and improve accounting processes, internal documentation, and close procedures
  • Assist with accounting system maintenance and improvements, including supporting system integrations when applicable
  • Communicate close progress, accounting issues, and financial insights to leadership
  • Participate in special accounting projects and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of month-end close processes and accrual accounting
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and financial workpapers
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and financial integrity
  • Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with leadership

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with multi-entity accounting environments
  • Experience in high-volume transaction environments
  • Background in service-based businesses, professional services, or legal support industries
  • Exposure to consolidated financial reporting
  • Experience preparing financial reporting packages for executive leadership
  • Experience assisting with Board of Directors reporting or board reporting packages is considered a plus
