About this role

Wells Fargo is looking for a Relationship Banker (SAFE) within the National Branch Network in the Consumer Banking and Lending division. After completing the required licensing and SAFE registration, the Relationship Banker LP (SAFE) will transition to the Relationship Banker (SAFE) role. The profile provided offers a general sense of the role; actual day to day duties vary by branch and by banker based on several factors, including years of experience, the mix of customers served, banking services and options used, and customer needs.

In this role you will:

  • Develop relationships with customers and take time to understand their needs
  • Identify opportunities to offer a full range of Wells Fargo retail banking deposits and credit products and services aligned with customer needs
  • Analyze tactical business challenges related to a full service banking experience for emerging affluent and high value customers and present recommendations
  • Provide recommendations to resolve inquiries and service requests regarding customer accounts
  • Open and service accounts within authorized limits and create plans for follow up and scheduled contacts with customers
  • Share information with internal partners and external sources to further enhance the customer experience
  • Identify opportunities to leverage partners and connect customers with the appropriate partner or relationship manager to meet their needs
  • Partner with financial advisors to understand appropriate introductions to address investment or retirement needs
  • Provide self service digital banking options to customers
  • This SAFE position involves customer contact and duties that may include offering or negotiating terms and/or taking an application for a dwelling secured transaction. Compliance with the SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and related regulations is required. Ongoing employment depends on meeting all such requirements, including acceptable background investigation results.

Individuals in a SAFE position must meet Loan Originator requirements under Regulation Z as described in the job expectations below.

Licensing and compliance

Role requires licensing and regulatory compliance typical for SAFE positions. Upon offer, timelines for required certifications and registrations will be provided. The SAFЕ designation requires ongoing registration, and the process is initiated by Wells Fargo after the start date. The Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) MU4R questions and registration are part of employment requirements. Individuals in Loan Originator (LO) roles must satisfy Consumer Financial Protection Bureau qualification requirements and conform with Wells Fargo policies. The LO standards include financial responsibility, character, general financial fitness, and criminal background considerations.

  • Ongoing licensing and SAFE registration will be initiated by Wells Fargo after your start date
  • NMLS MU4R questions and registration are part of the employment process
  • FINRA licensing: Current or required within a specified period (Series 6 and Series 63; co-requisite SIE for certain exams after 9/30/2018)
  • State securities license(s) and insurance license(s), as applicable, with completion timelines communicated at offer acceptance

  • Compliance with retail controls, risk management, and loss prevention policies
  • Background checks and financial fitness standards are part of ongoing employment

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of customer service experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education
  • 1+ year of assessing and meeting customers' needs or assisting with issue resolution
  • 1+ year of building and maintaining effective relationships with customers and partners

Desired Qualifications

  • FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 examinations completed (or FINRA recognized equivalents) sufficient for immediate FINRA registration
  • State insurance license(s)
  • Customer service focus with experience handling transactions across multiple systems
  • Proven ability to proactively source, acquire, build, and maintain relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of book of business processes to actively manage Wells Fargo customers to meet their needs and grow the business
  • Ability to be proactive, innovative, and creative in meeting customer and enterprise needs
  • Ability to make client calls and actively participate in the sales development process
  • Knowledge of retail compliance controls, risk management, and loss prevention
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and regulations
  • High motivation to meet team objectives while maintaining individual performance
  • Experience mentoring and peer coaching
  • Experience assessing customer needs and recommending products and services to fulfill those needs
  • Experience using business acumen to provide financial services consultation to small business customers
  • Knowledge of consumer lending products
  • Ability to educate and connect customers to technology and highlight the value of mobile banking options
  • Professional integrity and respectful interaction with customers and colleagues

Job Expectations

  • Ability to work a schedule that may include most Saturdays
  • Adherence to Wells Fargo sales practices and risk management culture
  • Current registration for FINRA Series 6 and Series 63, or completion within a specified period
  • For certain FINRA qualification exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam co-requisite is required
  • For several states where hired, FINRA Series 65 (or equivalent) examination will also be required to be attempted within a specified period; states include AK, AL, CT, DE, HI, IA, ID, IN, KS, MD, MI, MN, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NM, OR, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WY. Wyoming permits referral-only licensed bankers to receive IAR registration without Series 65/66; this list is subject to change
  • State insurance license(s) are required and must be completed within a specified period
  • Licensing requirements and expected completion timelines will be communicated to the candidate upon offer acceptance
  • Obtaining and maintaining FINRA licenses is required for ongoing employment, with enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards; FINRA review will begin at offer acceptance
