Overview
This position resides within Allspring’s Equities Investment organization, with a core focus on supporting the maintenance, development, and growth of Equity and Multi-Asset teams. The Portfolio Specialist Associate cultivates relationships and fosters mindshare with the sales teams across Allspring’s Distribution platform, aiding client servicing efforts and collaborating with internal partners to drive business growth. The role emphasizes delivering clear portfolio commentary, market insights, thought leadership, client reporting, and marketing collateral. Over time, there is potential to engage with external clients and prospects, which may involve travel. The Portfolio Specialist Associate also serves as an internal and external subject matter expert on the strategies managed by the teams we support. You will participate in investment process meetings with portfolio managers and research analysts to demonstrate an understanding of the rationale behind portfolio positioning, outlook, and risk. The position operates in a hybrid model, requiring in-office work four days per week. Location: Charlotte, NC 28203.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate closely with team leadership to set and achieve business priorities
- Act as a liaison between client-facing teams and the investment team
- Develop expert-level product knowledge to clearly articulate and market portfolio strategies to clients and prospects both inside and outside of Allspring
- Collaborate with internal teams to meet deadlines and deliverables aligned with business needs
- Support Client & Consultant Relations Directors and the Sales team in investment team/portfolio-specific meetings by joining calls, on-sites, and client meetings when necessary
- Play a key role in completing RFP submissions, client and consultant questionnaires, and maintaining product databases
- Build proficiency with technology systems (Bloomberg, Y-Charts, APX, AlphaSense) used to communicate our strategies effectively
- Contribute to team investment narratives, pitch books, thought leadership, market views, and research
- Promote the team’s capabilities and products by authoring and overseeing relevant research and positioning papers/support materials
- Help steer the business toward commercially attractive directions and inform/develop future generations of products and vehicles
- Perform additional duties as reasonably required in support of the role and team
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 0-3 years’ experience in a similar role or a distribution role with an interest in transitioning to a more technical function
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills (written and verbal)
- Working knowledge across distribution channels including intermediary, institutional, consultant, DCIO, subadvisory, and platforms
- Proficiency with Allspring technology and applications (MS Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- CFA Charter holder or candidate
- Solid investment management experience with a focus on equities
- Demonstrated ability to understand portfolio construction and investment risk management
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong skills with portfolio-related technology tools and platforms
- Sense of urgency in responding to in-bound requests from internal partners and external clients
Compensation
Base Pay Range: $85,000 - $95,000
