Role Overview
We are seeking a high-performance Market Coverage Banker whose primary focus is sourcing proprietary deal flow and cultivating deep market expertise within targeted industries. This role is not about execution support; it is a front-line, revenue-generating position.
The successful candidate will own and develop a defined industry vertical, build enduring relationships with CEOs and founders, source debt, equity, and M&A mandates, establish themselves as a market authority in their sector, and drive steady origination activity into the firm’s capital markets team.
Core Responsibilities
- Deal Origination & Pipeline Development: Proactively source middle-market transactions ($5M-$250M+), develop relationships with founders, sponsors, and executives, identify financing and M&A opportunities early, secure signed engagement letters, and collaborate with Capital Markets to build financial models, data rooms, and investor materials.
- Vertical Market Expertise: Own and continuously develop a defined industry vertical, maintain current knowledge of capital markets trends, valuation metrics, active buyers and lenders, and regulatory developments, and publish internal market insights to contribute to thought leadership.
- Relationship Development: Build a long-term network of professionals (IB and commercial bankers, attorneys, CPAs, insurance brokers, etc.), represent the firm at conferences and industry events, and serve as the primary point of contact for clients through mandate execution.
- Strategic Coverage: Develop target lists within the assigned vertical, maintain disciplined CRM tracking, conduct ongoing outreach and relationship nurturing, and build multi-year, trust-based advisory relationships.
Qualifications
Required
- 2-7+ years of experience in investment banking, private credit/equity, commercial banking, or capital markets
- Demonstrated ability to source or co-source transactions
- Deep industry knowledge within at least one sector
- Strong executive presence and communication skills
- Ability to independently manage pipeline development
Preferred
- Existing portable network within a defined vertical
- FINRA Series 79 / 63 (or ability to obtain)
- Prior experience at a boutique or middle-market platform
- Experience structuring debt, equity, or structured finance transactions

Compensation & Benefits
Ideal Profile: Compensation comprises Base Salary, deal bonus, and discretionary bonus.
Pay: $140,000.00 - $350,000.00 per year
