Overview
The Intermed Assoc Credit Analyst is a developing professional role that blends deep specialty knowledge with solid familiarity of industry standards and practices. It requires a clear understanding of how the team and surrounding areas work together to achieve the objectives of the subfunction and job family. The role applies analytical thinking and proficiency with data analysis tools and methodologies, breaking down information in a structured and communicable way. It also requires developed communication and diplomacy skills to convey potentially complex or sensitive information. The position carries a moderate yet direct impact through close engagement with the business’s core activities. The quality and timeliness of service provided influence the effectiveness of the analyst’s team and related groups.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes commercial credit underwriting skills to analyze and evaluate requests primarily for larger exposure commercial customers.
- Manually analyzes unsecured commercial credit underwriting requests from new and existing customers and makes recommendations within a limited time frame in line with credit department policies.
- Applies decisioning to satisfy bank, partner, and customer credit requirements.
- Owns issue and inquiry resolution with attentive, personalized service using a range of resources and systems.
- Conducts financial analysis and provides recommendations on new and existing credits and exposures.
- Assists applicants seeking large lines of credit by analyzing the customer, interpreting the request, identifying risk factors, performing a risk assessment, and delivering a summary and recommendation in the processing system.
- Ensures adherence to company and credit policies, auditing procedures, and department goals and standards.
- Identifies and escalates credit policy opportunities through system/strategy testing and procedural reviews.
- Performs tasks efficiently while maintaining quality.
- Demonstrates an understanding of customer issues and offers appropriate options to bring issues to resolution.
- Expected to work efficiently while maintaining high quality and exceptional customer service.
- Credit Underwriter should be empathetic and use a respectful tone.
- The Credit Underwriter will ensure the customer understands resolutions discussed and will share job knowledge regarding underwriting.
- Meets all contractual and regulatory turn-around times.
- Fosters teamwork and positive morale.
- Performs special projects as delegated by the Credit manager, other management, customers, or partners.
- Provides ongoing, reliable input to management on operational problems, issues, risks, and other matters.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Appropriately assess risk in business decisions, upholding the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients, and assets by ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, following policy, applying ethical judgment, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years related experience.
- Ability to understand and interpret Commercial Credit bureau data, analyze trade experience, and utilize external financial resources to underwrite credit requests; demonstrated Consumer or Commercial Underwriting skills.
Education
Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience.
