This position supports three financial cooperatives that operate with shared management across eight states. Owned by local farmers and ranchers, these associations collaborate to provide affordable credit, crop insurance, and a range of financial services. United by a common mission to serve rural America and to support one another, they build strong relationships with customers and communities. Position Summary
The Financial Officer - Portfolio is a sales oriented role focused on marketing and promoting the organizations' core products to an assigned producer customer segment. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, developing a deep understanding of each customer or prospect's current financial position and operating plan to propose innovative and practical product and service alternatives while meeting sales targets. Emphasis is placed on service and retention, establishing holistic relationships with customers and prospects for sales, marketing, and promotion of all core products.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Design customized customer packages, advise on financial information, and competitively price loans based on risk and profitability.
- Manage assigned portfolios and craft business plans to grow market share; promote and sell loan products, cross-sell all association products and services, and support a superior customer experience grounded in core principles and teamwork.
- Build a professional presence within the assigned segment by participating in commodity groups and networking with agricultural industry contacts to enhance the Association’s image as a leading ag financial institution.
- May serve as the initial officer to engage with incoming phone calls and walk in traffic seeking new credit.
- Discuss credit packages with Analysts and participate in the consensus decision making process when appropriate.
- Advise customers on loan decisions and provide expert guidance on their financial position and future credit needs.
- Collect necessary financial information and documents while delivering exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries, and completing key responsibilities in a timely manner.
- The primary focus is a development and learning period, including understanding processes, initiating underwriting and selling skills, and building the foundation for a successful Financial Officer career.
- Note that the role has limited business development responsibilities.
Travel
Travel is limited to up to 5 percent for interoffice and training related needs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Ag Business, Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, or a closely related field is required.
Experience Requirements
0 to 4 years of experience in lending, credit analysis and/or sales experience with related financial services or agricultural credit organizations is required.
