Position Details

Job Type: 6-12 months (contract) | Country: United States | Location: White Plains, NY 10601 | Pay Rate: Open

Project Overview

This position provides support in cost accounting, financial analysis and reporting, and internal controls for a major utility firm based in Westchester County, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction contract awards, initial dollar commitments, and change order requisitions in SAP, including work with implementation contractors for air monitoring, design, and controlled inspection vendors.
  • Review project invoices and approvals to ensure correct SAP purchase order number, account assignment, dollar value, and approval levels, verify available funding, and ensure backup documentation is in place.
  • Coordinate the project reconciliation process with engineers based on construction completion milestones.
  • Analyze and identify variances between SAP records and engineers final scope of work for materials, labor, fees, abatement, and other related costs.
  • Prepare the financial closeout of projects in SAP, including closing all contract dollar commitments, verifying 100% billing for project cost recovery, and recording all journal entries to reconcile SAP costs with a final closeout memo.
  • Update project closeout and reconciliation data in the EE Department Project Management database (Primavera).
  • Support Financial Controls staff.
  • Distribute all billing memos, closeout memos, and journal entries to Accounting and Billing departments and update Primavera accordingly.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Cost Accounting and/or Accounting methods and theory.
  • Familiarity with Primavera is preferred.
  • General understanding of fee schedules.
  • Strong analytical skills; excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with customers, program staff, and management.
  • Ability to interface with various internal departments, specifically Procurement.

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting is preferred.
