As a Staff Financial Analyst or Senior Financial Analyst, you will contribute to financial planning, program analysis, and operational decision making across the enterprise. The role serves as the primary financial analyst for the Space Systems sector, working with Program Managers and finance leadership to monitor program financial performance, analyze contract data, and support forecasting and reporting activities. In addition to program financial management, you will assist corporate and functional financial activities, delivering analytical and planning support across indirect departments. You will collaborate with functional leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and strategic planning initiatives. This position offers exposure to both program financial management and corporate FP&A within a government contracting environment. The role can be based in Tucson, AZ or Northridge, CA. It is 100% on-site, full-time, exempt, and non-supervisory. The appropriate level (Staff Financial Analyst or Senior Financial Analyst) will be determined by your experience and qualifications.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary financial analyst for the Space Systems sector, partnering with Program Managers to monitor financial performance, funding, and contract expenditures.
  • Track program budgets and conduct variance analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting for government contracts.
  • Analyze customer contracts to determine cost, funding, and profit data.
  • Support the semi annual budgeting and estimate at complete process.
  • Support financial planning and analysis activities across corporate and functional departments.
  • Assist with the financial evaluation of operational initiatives and organizational spending plans.
  • Prepare financial plans, generate regular and special-purpose reports, and maintain historical financial records.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, dashboards, and analytical tools that improve visibility into program and operational performance.
  • Establish cost projections, personnel labor forecasts, and analyze financial trends.
  • Review weekly timesheet charges to ensure timely and accurate completion and proper charging practices.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and decision support to Sector, Finance, and functional department leadership as needed.
  • Operate effectively in a dynamic, cross functional environment, supporting a variety of financial initiatives across the organization.

Experiences and Background We Look For (Required Skills)

  • BA/BS degree with 4 or more years of experience or MA/MBA with 2 or more years of experience
  • Experience supporting government contracts or defense programs
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Expert proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with indirect cost structures and cost pools within a government contracting organization

Nice to Have (Preferred Skills)

  • Prior experience in a defense contracting organization with TM1 and DELTEK CostPoint software knowledge
  • Familiarity with SBIR/STTR contracts
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience using data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • MBA or CMA designation

Compensation

The salary range for this role depends on the candidate's level of experience:

  • Staff Financial Analyst — $90,000 to $115,000 (BA/BS plus 4 years of relevant experience)
  • Senior Financial Analyst — $115,000 to $135,000 (BA/BS plus 6 years of relevant experience)
