Job Description

Location and Role Context

Hybrid remote opportunity based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado 80487. The Finance & HR Manager oversees all financial operations for the Steamboat Springs Chamber and provides human resources oversight. The role reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO to develop, monitor, and manage all chamber budgets.
  • Establish robust accounting controls and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Utilize QuickBooks Desktop or Enterprise for accounting tasks and financial reporting.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
  • Maintain bank accounts, perform reconciliations, manage authorized signers, set up or close accounts as needed, and oversee investments.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and coordinate review meetings with each department.
  • Generate monthly financial reports for Board of Directors meetings.
  • Lead the preparation and oversight of the annual audit and tax return.
  • Administer payroll, including biweekly pay cycles and direct deposits.
  • Handle payroll taxes, including annual W-2s and 1099s, and quarterly 941, 940, unemployment, and withholding filings and payments as required.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records, including salary and benefits information.
  • Administer insurance programs covering health, dental, property, workers' compensation, and liability.
  • Manage the 401(k) plan, including semi-monthly deposits and online contribution reports.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to create, update, and monitor Chamber HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide accounting services and general grant reporting for the Chamber Young Professionals Network (YPN), YPN events, and Routt County Economic Development Partnership.
  • Manage cash and inventory for all special events.
  • Handle sensitive, confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Strong accounting and financial expertise.
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience with QuickBooks Desktop or Enterprise.
  • Experience in nonprofit finance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with prompt responses and clear, consistent follow-up.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Superior planning and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to consistently monitor budgets and update accordingly.
  • Passion for improving systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and operate a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Reliable transportation to travel around town as needed.
