Finance & Accounting Manager

Company Overview

Chery Group operates as a U S distributor of globally recognized heavy construction equipment. The company is headquartered in Garden City, Long Island, and was established in 2013. Its footprint includes locations in Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Canada (Montreal, Toronto).

We are seeking a hands-on Finance and Accounting Manager to organize and enhance financial operations across multiple business lines, including auctions, e-commerce, warehouse sales, and the supply chain. The role emphasizes building structured financial records, refining cost classification, and supporting internal reporting for business analysis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting activities such as the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations; ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions; maintain organized and audit-ready financial records.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; maintain consistency and accuracy of data across entities and accounts; support the financial close process and improve closing efficiency.
• Strengthen internal controls over financial transactions and payments; review and improve accounting workflows and documentation standards; help establish standardized procedures for expense tracking and approvals.
• Improve expense classification and the chart of accounts structure; support data organization across departments, business units, and projects; assist in allocating shared costs to improve cost visibility.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes; support management reporting and basic financial analysis; provide insights into cost trends and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and relevant regulations; work closely with external CPA firms for tax filings and audits; assist in preparing required financial documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• 5+ years of accounting or finance experience required
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and accounting principles
• Experience with accounting systems (QuickBooks or similar)
• Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, data analysis)
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in multi-entity or multi-business environments
• Exposure to budgeting or financial analysis
• CPA or progress toward CPA a plus
• Mandarin Chinese proficiency preferred to support communication with cross-functional and overseas teams

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
• Benefits: 401(k), Health insurance, Paid time off
