Job Description
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Origination team on pre-screening new deal opportunities, initial collateral analysis, preliminary financial analysis, and the preparation of greenlight memoranda.
- Participate in due diligence sessions and document client/industry performance, financial trends, and collateral characteristics.
- Propose internal risk ratings, update relevant scorecards, monitor limits, and oversee data accuracy to ensure compliance with business and institutional guidelines.
- Draft credit approval memos for review by senior Underwriters and submit for Risk approval through internal processes and system workflows.
- Review servicer reports for collateral eligibility, covenant compliance, data integrity, and Borrowing Base coverage; identify deteriorating asset performance and stay informed on asset industry trends and borrower-specific events.
- Provide the Origination team with requested historical asset performance data and other ad hoc credit-related requests.
- Validate Borrowing Base models for each new deal and for subsequent changes.
- Serve as maker/checker for various internal databases; ensure data accuracy and complete reflection of facility changes across internal systems.
- Play an integral role in the credit approval process for post-closing amendments, consents, and waiver requests.
- Coordinate with the Audit manager and senior Underwriters on audit-related matters (e.g., scope revisions, timely review); support follow-up, negotiation, and implementation of remedial actions with servicers for major exceptions noted in audits.
- Maintain organized credit files for credit, regulatory, and compliance purposes.
- Prepare and present Quarterly Portfolio Reviews to business management and Risk.
Qualifications
- Credit experience (preferably in structured finance/securitization) within a financial institution, rating agency, financial guarantor, or asset management firm.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong oral and written communications skills enabling effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership; diligent, capable of multi-tasking, and eager to learn and advance.
- Ability to work independently within a team to meet deadlines and proactively escalate with other Underwriting or Origination team members to mitigate credit and operational risks.
Additional Qualifications
- 2–5 years of relevant Securitization / Consumer ABS experience.
- Degree in quantitative fields such as Economics, Engineering, Operations Research, Business Finance, or Mathematics.
- Previous experience in credit risk management or equivalent training, preferably in the financial services industry.
- Ability to apply credit and risk principles toward business goals.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize, and drive results with a high sense of urgency.
- Highly organized with the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects, and possessing strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
Education
Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience.
