Controller - Finance Manager

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary ranges from $100,000 to $115,000 annually. The benefits package includes four weeks of paid time off, 10 paid holidays, health and dental insurance, and a Simple IRA retirement plan with up to a 3% company match.

Position Overview

The Controller is responsible for the financial health of the business by tracking, analyzing, and reporting results, preparing financial projections, and recommending corrective actions as needed. The role aims to maximize financial performance in close collaboration with the Owner. The Controller oversees the Business Office, which comprises three full-time staff, and participates in special financial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organization’s strategic plan.
• Create an annual budget and monitor performance against it on a monthly basis; generate ongoing financial reporting as needed, including a monthly income statement.
• Provide financial tools, operational support, and recommendations to the management team, including identifying and delivering meaningful KPIs to improve departmental performance.
• Offer financial analysis for income projections and conduct cost accounting analyses for each product line and service.
• Manage daily cash flow and borrowing needs; coordinate with banks on financing options as required.
• Monitor long-term debt and EFT payments; restructure debt and financing of certain assets; maintain bank relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• At least seven years of progressively responsible financial management experience in a for-profit environment.
• Knowledge of accounting regulations, GAAP, and generally accepted accounting principles.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
