Summary/Objectives
The Commercial Portfolio Manager III supports the commercial loan and deposit portfolios for one or more Relationship Managers (Commercial and CRE), delivering quality underwriting, solid portfolio oversight, and exceptional client service.
Essential Functions

- Evaluates creditworthiness by analyzing financial data for new loan requests, renewal requests, and ongoing portfolio management, in line with the bank’s policies and procedures.
- Performs industry research as needed to support current and prospective customers.
- Assembles commercial loan packages (non-BL and BLE) ensuring thorough and accurate information. Each package includes a written credit memo with customer background, borrower and guarantor financial analysis, details of the proposed transaction, a critical risk assessment, proper risk grading, and a thoughtful recommendation.
- When required, conducts additional credit analysis using more advanced tools beyond traditional spreads and global cash flow (for example CRE analysis tools).
- Leads the loan request through the Credit Approval Process, ensuring the structure satisfies client needs while aligning with the bank’s operating objectives.
- Ensures large commercial loan relationships comply with applicable State and Federal regulations as well as bank policies and procedures.
- Monitors and services large commercial loan portfolios for the supported Commercial Bankers through quality portfolio management tasks, including centralized covenant testing and tracking, annual servicing reviews, and exception clearance.
- Assigns risk ratings to each loan in the assigned portfolio per policy and recommends adjustments as circumstances evolve or new information emerges.
- Assists the Relationship Manager in presenting credit proposals to Credit Administration or other leadership and Committees within the Bank.
- Ensures all required documentation is on file for loans and treasury management approvals. Works with the Relationship Manager and LOA to address any documentation or compliance deficiencies identified by Loan Operations or other reviews.
- Periodically accompanies the Relationship Manager on calls with existing and/or prospective customers as requested.
- Fosters and maintains positive working relationships with internal partners (Loan Operations, Credit Administrators, Credit Leadership, Local Line Leadership, Branch Personnel, etc.).
- Undertakes special projects relevant to the role as directed by Credit Administration Leadership.
- Continuously updates skills through professional training and seeks cross-training opportunities offered by the Bank.
- Collaborates with the Relationship Manager, Credit Administrators, and Loan Assistant to minimize past-due loans.
- As a teammate to the Relationship Manager and Credit Administration, serves as a trusted advisor to clients and prospects within the framework of risk management.
- Demonstrates a commitment to fair lending practices.
