Overview

The role requires on site collaboration, with the selected candidate working four days per week on site in Richfield, Ohio (44286). The Client Service Manager, Relationship Management for the Mega Market segment (1B plus AUM) serves as the primary interface between Schwab and our largest plan sponsors, delivering coordinated client service in support of plan administration and unique client needs. You will collaborate with the Director level Client Service Manager, the Client Relationship Practice Leader, and the Client Service Specialist to strengthen client retention, satisfaction, and the overall Schwab relationship. The position also supports a succession plan for Schwab Retirement Plan Services SRPS’s largest client relationships, while upholding Schwab policies and managing operational and financial risk. Typical responsibilities involve serving complex clients with assets above 5B.

What you’ll do

  • Support 1 to 3 Mega Market client relationships in a collaborative, team-based approach.
  • Review and apply assigned practice plans to ensure administration aligns with plan provisions.
  • Work with business partners to delegate and lead client issues toward successful resolution.
  • Approach each client interaction holistically, staying aware of all issues and events to craft a precise client experience.
  • Engage in face-to-face meetings to uncover new business opportunities and relationship challenges through well-defined, open-ended questions.
  • Identify and involve the appropriate Schwab subject matter experts to discuss solutions and achieve client understanding of options.
  • Maintain client satisfaction, improve promoter scores, and keep internal teams informed about plan administration activities.
  • Adapt to clients and consultants with diverse backgrounds and roles, including executives, human resources, and finance.
  • Support sales efforts and drive client education and training on procedures and sponsor reporting solutions.
  • Share standard methodologies across the organization and contribute to continuous service improvements.
  • Execute client and regulatory changes as required.
  • Communicate Schwab’s value to clients in an authentic and effective manner.
  • Apply specialized knowledge of qualified and non-qualified retirement plan recordkeeping and understand its broader impact.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and internal colleagues, and connect with industry contacts to achieve results.

What you have

To help us deliver on our promise of challenging the status quo, the following qualifications are required:

  • 3+ years of experience with large, complex employer sponsored Retirement Plans.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of ERISA, industry rules and regulations, and non-qualified plan design.
  • High energy, confidence, accountability, professionalism, integrity, resilience, and respect for others.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive in taking initiative.
  • Ability to implement client strategies, retirement plan design, compliance, and IRS reporting.
  • Capability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, influence, and build consensus among team members, leadership, and clients through presentations.
  • Skill to identify client issues that pose risk to the firm, address them appropriately, and propose preventive solutions.
  • Experience servicing high-complexity plans.
  • Strong project management and time management abilities, with aptitude for handling multiple assignments of varying duration and attention to detail.
  • Capability to inspire others to challenge the status quo and drive improvements that enhance team effectiveness and client service.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence outcomes within teams.
  • Flexibility to travel for client visits and sales presentations as needed.

Preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years of client and/or participant service experience.
  • ASPPA, CEBS, and/or NIPA designation or in progress.
  • QPA, CPC or equivalent certification/designations.
  • Integrated benefit services experience with general knowledge of equity compensation plans (stock options, RSUs, SARs, ESPP) and administration and plan design for both qualified retirement and non-qualified executive deferred compensation plans.
