Position Overview

The Chief Finance Officer provides strategic leadership over all financial operations for The Klamath Tribes, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of financial systems. The role informs organizational decision making through precise financial and statistical reporting. The CFO protects tribal assets, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, and aligns financial practices with tribal policies and long term objectives. The CFO directly supervises the Assistant Finance Officer and Fiscal Comptroller and has indirect oversight of all Finance Department staff. An adjusted work schedule may be required occasionally to meet department and organizational needs given the scope of the role.

Position Details

Classification: Professional/Management, Full-Time, Regular. Reports To: Chief Executive Officer. Location: The Klamath Tribes Administration, 501 Chiloquin Blvd., Chiloquin, OR 97624. Salary Range: $101,135 – $177,341 annually (Step Range 43–62; Full Benefits). Hourly Range: $48.62 – $85.26. Background Requirement: Executive-level experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership across all financial functions, including accounting, procurement, property management, information systems, and financial reporting.
  • Direct administration of Federal and State contracts and grants to ensure regulatory compliance and proper funding usage.
  • Develop and enforce Tribal investment policies to safeguard financial resources and ensure prudent stewardship.
  • Maintain and enhance financial systems, internal controls, and operational procedures to support organizational effectiveness and accountability.
  • Produce timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and analyses to inform strategic planning and executive decision making.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate Finance Department leadership and staff, fostering professionalism, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop budgets, forecasts, and long term financial strategies.
  • Ensure the organization has the financial and statistical information necessary to operate efficiently and meet its mission.
  • Represent the Finance Department in executive meetings, Tribal Council sessions, and external audits.
