Overview
The Senior Business Banking Underwriter IV in Practice Finance is available to candidates across the Huntington footprint, with a base location in Tupelo, Mississippi 38801.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite and assess Business Banking Healthcare, SBA, and USDA loan applications to determine creditworthiness and compliance with Huntington lending policies and SBA/USDA guidelines.
- Analyze customer financial information to support sound credit decisions.
- Document loan decisions and any closing conditions in detail.
- Act as a liaison to internal clients to resolve lending issues and communicate decisions clearly.
- Complete underwriting decisions in a timely manner.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of Huntington lending policies, risk rating requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Provide coaching to bankers on sound lending practices and credit risk management.
- Work independently on larger, complex credit requests.
- Adhere to bank policies, procedures, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Offer mentorship to other underwriters or credit analysts within the designated group.
- Support risk management, compliance, and audit performance for the assigned area, whether in a supervisory, managerial, or individual contributor role.
- Collaborate with management to develop effective controls and processes to measure, monitor, and control risk and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Keep current on risk-related changes impacting the area of responsibility.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience analyzing and underwriting loans for business or commercial clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SBA or other government guaranteed loan programs.
- Formal credit training is preferred.
- Excellent customer service, highly motivated, focused, and goal oriented.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with professional presentation.
- Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail, planning, and follow-up.
- Ability to build and expand high quality internal and external relationships.
Exempt Status
Yes, this position is exempt from overtime pay.

Office based. Our approach to office work arrangements supports flexibility where applicable. Some roles outside our branch network may offer a blend of in-office and remote work. Specific arrangements will be provided by the hiring team.
Compensation
Salary range: $70,000 to $140,000 per year. This base salary range represents the minimum and maximum for the role; actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and performance, and may be above or below this range. Employees in this role are eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. Huntington also offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, a wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays, and PTO.
