Overview

First Citizens Bank is seeking a dedicated Business Banker to deepen relationships with local business owners in Knoxville, Tennessee 37934. In this role, you will continue the tradition of connecting with business owners to support their financial goals, maintaining an active prospect list, a targeted outreach plan, and quality referral sources. You will serve as the primary contact for borrowing needs, typically up to $2 million, coordinating with bank partners to offer a full suite of deposit and related business services. Larger relationships may be managed with manager approval and appropriate partner support.

Responsibilities

  • Sales: Achieve individual and/or team financial, production, and relationship targets aligned with community needs and the bank’s diversity-focused lending objectives. Proactively engage with customers, prospects, and referral sources.
  • Community engagement: When appropriate, represent the Bank at civic and community events to generate additional business and identify potential CRA opportunities for the Bank.
  • Sales execution: Employ sales practices that create value for both the customer and the bank; coordinate with partners to provide relevant financial guidance and drive informed decisions.
  • Planning and preparation: Conduct appropriate planning and preparation to ensure conversations deliver the needed financial guidance.
  • Service Standards: Build collaborative partnerships that deliver value for customers, prospects, and colleagues; initiate conversations to uncover sales or referral opportunities; listen attentively and ask insightful questions to understand needs and preferences; take prompt actions to address immediate needs.
  • Performance optimization: Seek coaching, support bank initiatives, and leverage tools to enhance activities and optimize performance.
  • Operations and Administration: Comply with regulations, bank policies, procedures, and delegated authorities to manage risk related to credit, operations, reputation, regulatory, and legal aspects of interactions, transactions, and exposures. Complete required training by deadlines. Perform general office management duties as assigned to ensure operational efficiency. If responsibilities include deposit activities, maintain transaction accuracy and operational efficiency. Roles may contribute to both individual and team performance accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience in Commercial or business lending, credit, or business development, OR
  • High School Diploma or GED with 6 years of experience in Commercial or business lending, credit, or business development.

Licensing and Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license. The role requires frequent travel to other offices and to bank customers; a bank-provided car is not provided.
