Role Overview

As an Automotive Finance Manager, you will influence the vehicle buying experience by managing the financial transaction process for each customer. You will collaborate with lenders to secure approvals, prepare financial paperwork, and advise staff on DMV regulations. You will work closely with the sales team and customers to facilitate financing, build rapport to generate referrals, and present finance and insurance options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial transaction portion of the vehicle buying experience for every customer.
  • Coordinate with lenders to obtain bank approvals, produce financial paperwork, and advise staff on DMV laws.
  • Collaborate with the sales team and customers to assist with the financing process.
  • Build a network of referrals by establishing strong customer relationships.
  • Consult on and sell finance & insurance warranties to customers.
  • Produce and submit accurate paperwork for title processing and to secure funding in a timely manner.
  • Achieve monthly objectives and meet deadlines for submitting paperwork to lenders and accounting.
  • Handle and secure customer funds during transactions and remit them to accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and educate the sales team on state law changes related to vehicle purchases.
  • Partner with service advisors to assist customers with purchasing extended warranties when needed.
  • Create and maintain strong customer relationships and maintain an impeccable reputation with lenders and vendors.
  • Deliver a clear finance and insurance menu presentation, explaining warranty packages.
  • Assist sales professionals in explaining lending options and warranties to customers as needed.
  • Maintain relationships with local and national bank and manufacturer representatives and meet with them monthly.
  • Demonstrate advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office and dealership management systems.
  • Remain detail-oriented and organized in a fast-paced environment; think strategically to find solutions for every customer.
  • Be self-motivated and a cooperative team player.
  • Demonstrate understanding of tag and title laws (DMV).
  • Prior automotive sales consultant experience required; 1–3 years.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field preferred; MBA a plus.
  • A proven track record of impeccable customer service ratings.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings (background check and drug test).

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 1–3 years of prior automotive sales consultant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field preferred; MBA is a plus.
  • Strong customer service history and proven ability to build relationships with customers, lenders, and vendors.
  • Experience with tag and title laws and DMV regulations.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and dealership management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for explaining financing and warranty options.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings (background & drug test).
