Position Overview
Brady Ware Dealership Advisors is seeking a Controller on behalf of a client in the automotive sector. The Controller maintains a robust set of accounting records and implements a comprehensive framework of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, ensure the accuracy of financial results, and maximize profitability. The role also oversees daily accounting operations to support efficient cash management, smooth transaction flow, clean records, and full adherence to the company’s accounting processes and internal controls. The Controller will prepare periodic financial reports in line with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management: Oversee daily accounting activities including cash flow management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts, delivering insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Financial Reporting: Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Tax Compliance: Manage all tax-related matters, ensuring timely filing and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Team Leadership: Guide and mentor the accounting team, promoting continuous improvement and professional development.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes and implement effective procedures and policies.
- Departmental Collaboration: Partner with Department Managers (Sales, Service, Parts) to review financial performance, analyze expenses, and identify efficiency opportunities.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years in an accounting role, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity; automotive or RV industry experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in dealership accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; high attention to detail.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for effective collaboration with team members and management.
