Automotive Accounting Controller

Position Overview

DARCARS Automotive Group seeks an experienced Automotive Accounting Controller to lead both dealership and central accounting operations. This leadership role is essential for maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring compliance, and promoting operational efficiency while supporting dealership management and corporate leadership.

Location: Silver Spring, MD 20904

Key Responsibilities

• Provide precise financial performance reports for the dealership to the General Manager and corporate leadership.
• Evaluate sales and expense data to identify risks and opportunities for profitability.
• Deliver timely financial reviews and performance updates to management.
• Interpret financial statements and operating reports to identify trends and insights.
• Recruit, train, and supervise the accounting office staff.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, internal controls, and applicable laws.
• Review and maintain general ledger reconciliations, including bank accounts, factory payables, reserves, and floor plans.
• Oversee weekly scheduling, reviews, and ongoing maintenance of accounting functions.
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years as an Automotive Controller or 4 years as an Assistant Controller in an automotive dealership group
• Extensive experience in retail automotive accounting
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities
• Advanced financial analysis and expense control experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred
• Stable and verifiable employment history
