Job Description
Overview
The role supports valuation and financial reporting for life insurance products. The incumbent will collaborate with a broader actuarial team to deliver timely reporting, perform detailed analyses, and review business performance. The level is determined by experience.
Location and Compensation
Location: Boston, MA 02109.
Work arrangement: Hybrid with a 3 days in the office and 2 days remote schedule.
Salary: $95,000 to $135,000 plus bonus and equity; compensation is flexible based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review statutory, tax, and GAAP reserves, along with related actuarial metrics.
- Analyze changes in reserves and assess sensitivities across different reporting frameworks.
- Investigate and explain key drivers of earnings and quarterly results.
- Strengthen and maintain internal control processes to support accurate and compliant reporting.
- Perform annual assumption reviews and evaluate the financial impact of potential updates.
- Coordinate with modeling teams to implement model enhancements and updates.
- Partner with data and technology teams to improve valuation systems and processes.
- Assist with audits and provide support for regulatory reporting and inquiries.
Qualifications
- FSA designation, progress toward FSA, or ASA with relevant experience.
- Approximately 5 or more years of actuarial experience, ideally within life insurance or annuities.
- Understanding of statutory and GAAP valuation principles is preferred.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and attention to detail.
- Collaborative and adaptable, with a proactive and positive approach to teamwork.
