Overview
Founded in 1989, Burton Enright Welch (BEW) is an independent, fee-only financial planning and investment management firm headquartered in Walnut Creek, California, with assets under management exceeding $1 billion. BEW is looking for an Associate Advisor who is eager to learn, intellectually curious, and thrives in a collaborative environment that emphasizes initiative and professional growth. In this role, you will collaborate with BEW Advisors and Lead Advisors to deliver financial planning and investment management for BEW’s clients. The Associate Advisor is not expected to bring in new business. In the long term, BEW anticipates progression to Advisor, which would involve greater responsibility in leading meetings, serving as a financial planning subject matter expert, and acting as the primary client contact.
Responsibilities
- Support Advisors and Lead Advisors in addressing day-to-day client needs.
- Ensure client communications are clear, timely, responsive, and courteous.
- Utilize firm resources to deliver high-quality client deliverables.
- Assist in preparing for client meetings, take notes, and send follow-up emails.
- Create or update financial plans to monitor progress toward clients’ goals.
- Analyze financial planning strategies such as tax planning, retirement spending, and equity compensation; partner with Advisors/Lead Advisors to develop recommendations.
- Maintain client records, utilize workflows, and monitor outstanding tasks in the CRM.
- Coordinate team organization and the execution of team tasks and projects.
- Collaborate with the Client Services Team on service requests and new client onboarding to ensure a seamless experience.
- Participate in project and committee work, including Investment Committee and Financial Planning initiatives.
- Support and adhere to client experience standards and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2–4 years of experience in the financial services industry
- Desire to obtain the CFP designation or progress toward it
- CPA and CFA designations are welcome
- Experience with financial planning software such as eMoney is a plus
