Assistant Controller

Overview

C&L Aviation Services, part of the C&L Aviation Group, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our team. This position reports directly to the Financial Controller and will play a key role in supporting and overseeing the company’s accounting and financial activities. Location: Bangor, ME.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the month end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Ensure all general ledger activity is accurate and complete, including supporting documentation.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual GL account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with legal guidelines and GAAP standards.
• Assist with budget management, variance analysis, and financial forecasting.
• Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide recommendations to management.
• Identify issues and provide recommendations to resolve discrepancies in financial records.
• Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
• Prepare documentation for and assist with internal and external audits.
• Ensure the company meets reporting deadlines for both internal and external regulatory requirements.
• Identify areas for improvement in accounting processes and assist with implementing changes.
• Document and manage internal accounting processes and procedures.
• Oversee the work of staff accountants.

Requirements

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Experience with financial reporting and analysis.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Leadership and supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
• Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
