Role overview

Location: Johnston, RI 02919. The Asset Finance Portfolio Management Team Leader steers the P&L outcomes of the asset finance vertical by directing credit, documentation and portfolio management activities. The goal is to achieve or surpass budgeted volume targets while upholding strong credit standards, minimizing losses, and ensuring efficient, compliant fulfillment of business needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and guide a regional team responsible for credit, portfolio management and documentation, including reviewing new credit submissions, balancing workloads, ensuring portfolio compliance with regulatory and commercial credit policy guidelines, and ensuring the team has necessary resources such as training, headcount and system access.
  • Delegate the direction of the vertical while ensuring the executive management strategy is carried out.
  • Collaborate with senior management and sales leaders to drive new business growth that delivers an acceptable bank return while minimizing credit risk.
  • Prescreen and structure corporate lease and loan transactions across multiple industries, perform independent credit due diligence, and analyze and underwrite transactions in a timely manner.
  • Review and approve new credit requests and annual reviews within designated authority, ensuring compliance with all commercial credit policy and AF guidelines.
  • Provide outstanding service to external and internal customers and build positive rapport with senior credit management and credit counterparts across Citizens Bank.
  • Manage a small portfolio of customer relationships in line with commercial credit policy; complete quarterly and annual reviews, update CRM dashboard data, prepare memorandums and obtain approvals for changes or modifications to facilities; perform portfolio tasks such as exposure management plans and lease renewals as needed.
  • Monitor ongoing changes and solicit feedback from internal customers to refine the structure, accomplished through regularly scheduled meetings with key stakeholders.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Marketing or related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple initiatives in a high volume environment
  • 10–15 years of Commercial Banking Portfolio Management experience
  • 3+ years of Equipment Finance or Asset Finance industry experience
  • Prior management and mentoring experience

Hours and work schedule

Hours: 40+ per week. Work schedule: Monday through Friday.

Compensation and benefits

The salary range for this role is $200,800 to $250,000 per year, plus an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is determined by location, relevant skills and experience.
