Accountant - Controller

Overview

We are seeking a driven and detail‑oriented Accountant - Controller to lead our financial operations and uphold the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of our accounting functions. Responsibilities

• Oversee the full spectrum of general ledger activities, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while adhering to organizational policies.
• Prepare comprehensive financial reports in line with GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Conduct detailed financial and account analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning efforts.
• Maintain adherence to internal controls and implement audit procedures to safeguard assets and enhance operational efficiency.
• Direct cash management activities, including cash flow forecasting, bank reconciliations, and maintenance of banking relationships.
• Support technical accounting functions such as payroll processing, regulatory compliance, and implementing accounting software like Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.

Skills

• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, IFRS, double-entry bookkeeping, and regulatory standards relevant to non-profit and governmental sectors.
• Proven experience with financial management software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalent systems.
• Strong understanding of debits and credits, account reconciliation, balance sheet management, and account analysis.
• Ability to produce clear and accurate financial reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
• Expertise in compliance procedures alongside experience with public accounting practices is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical abilities with a solid grasp of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and general ledger reconciliation techniques.
• Effective communication skills for presenting complex financial data clearly while collaborating across departments to optimize financial performance.

Salary

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
