Compensation Overview

The base salary for this nationwide role reflects a market range and encompasses a broad span of potential salaries across the country. The final figure will be determined by factors such as the scope and complexity of the role, location, the candidate’s qualifications, and relevant experience, along with other employment considerations. In addition to base pay, employees are eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of the total compensation package.

What Is the Opportunity?

Within Specialty Group Captives, you’ll support group captive coverage so clients can access appropriate protection. The Account Executive Officer (AEO) for Specialty Group Captives will collaborate with agents and brokers to secure coverage for both new and renewal business aligned to client needs. The role is positioned as a technical resource, and the AEO brings decisiveness, meticulous attention to detail, and strong relationship-building skills to drive results. Your ability to independently evaluate complex risk and effectively promote our products in challenging markets will contribute to the organization’s profitability and success.

What Will You Do?

  • Oversee profitability, growth, and retention for an assigned book of business.
  • Underwrite and negotiate complex client accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • Build and sustain internal partnerships to craft sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting with agents and brokers in person to market and sell Travelers products, with travel required for these engagements.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales techniques.
  • Independently develop and execute agency sales plans; frequently collaborate with the Managing Director to shape regional or group sales strategies.
  • Potentially assist in mentoring and training less experienced Account Executives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience in commercial lines.
  • Deep knowledge of commercial lines products, regulatory considerations, and the local insurance market.
  • Strong critical-thinking abilities with the capacity to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and make timely decisions aligned with risk appetite.
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively in difficult situations with agents and brokers.
  • CPCU designation.

What is a Must Have?

Four years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance.
